Tesla CEO Left Beijing after His Mysterious, Reportedly Gygafactory-Related, Trip

Tesla Inc (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk met with Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang last week in Beijing.

The previously unreported meeting followed meetings with China's commerce and industry ministers earlier in the day and with the foreign minister on Tuesday.

Tesla and the State Council Information Office, which handles media queries on behalf of the Chinese government, did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.

Tesla had previously sought a meeting for Musk with Li, Reuters reported in March. On media streams, Musk was shown prototypes of a revamped Model 3, Tesla’s first mass-market sedan. The updated car is slightly longer and sportier than the earlier version and has a sleeker interior design. However, trial production is yet to start and any public debut is some time off.
